walked for hours yesterday.. maybe three. Went to dinner with trev and zoe and picked at the high calorie singapore food. We then walked from collingwood to carlton to cheer in labor at the union hub of vic - trades hall. walked back to abbotsford at midnight. feet very sore today. weight has not moved. maybe tomorrow when the counting really starts. go away weight. go away.
The weekend was a shocker... I really lost the plot. I find that when you eat healthy there is more quantity... bad food equals small quantity for big fat!! I am certainly much more on track today and happy to say goodbye to the eating habits of the weekend. Too scared to get on the scales.. must walk more... must walk off many muffins, BBQ & donut (I don't even really like donuts, but they were from the 'Dreamy Donut' shop)...
someone put a plate of chocolate in my nose this morning... i said no thank you i have given up sugar. worked late and was getting hungry - rather than waiting to get home and graze i ate a piece of rye with the tomoato. much better. Did 25 minutes cardio/weights dvd made by Gillian from the biggest loser. it was horrific. sweating after five minutes. skipping with barbells and starjumps with weight lifts. she reckons it is the quickest way to get into shape.. mmm there are four different dvds in the pack focusing on a different area of the body. today was front. lunges, sit ups, push ups, arms. now i have to lie down.
Excellent job Sim. I walked for about 1.5hrs yesterday.. a pleasant couple of strolls. Plan to walk into town this morning and grab a coffee and may be check out 'Curves' on the way back... I need to get into lifting some weights.. walking won't cut it!! Walking certainly won't tighten my floppy arms.
your food was much better yesterday K. I have book club after work - so have bought in clothes and shoes to walk for an hour at lunch time. will post liver cleansing to you cookie. Arms a bit sore today after the workout yesterday. Really - that woman is crazy - but it was achievable. full on cardio with weights. The main thing is i think you have to sweat. Walking is excellent for maintaining but to lose more you have to sweat a bit and raise the heart rate. Bought three mangos this morning... odds are mangos will be as rampant as donuts in the following food posts.
hunger gone.. forgot my masters results came out yesterday. just checked and i got 90%. Wow... the lecturer said he didnt give HDs. Who gets a mark like that? i am so smart...
why can i not say.. no thank you i dont wish to share your high calorie food .. i will order a salad for one thanks. its not that difficult surely. why did i have to reach for that fluffy bread? On a brighter note - no high sugar products again. trying really hard to not take sugar - getting off it is really difficult. i have half a sugar free choc in the cupboard, it has been there for three days. sugar free chocolate is not very popular. oh and i walked for 80 minutes at lunch and the rode the bike for 20 when i arrived home. hooray
gosh... all that walking. who gets time to walk?? nice weather to walk in by the way here.. pitch black at 4pm and raining heavy.
might have to join a gym.
also, have friend that likes using her pedometer. 10,000 step is apparently the way to success. might get one of those too cos I do many walking during the day at work without noticing.
Wow.. well done to you Sim on your excellent result! It seems you are having excellent results all round... I would like it noted that the Spinach Pie is indeed quite tasty. I made a batch last night and ate it for dinner... having it now for lunch and have frozen many more pieces. Simon even ate it last night (with a side of lamb chops) Thanks for the recipe Sim!
Cookie cracker... it is rather tough to go for walks in the rainy dark! Hmmm... walking at work good.. I am planning to get going with an exercise/aerobic video at home.. may be you could try that??
Please can you both post your GOALS!! Weight goal and by when.. along with any other side goals.. We should list the goals somewhere so they stand out... I need to have mine flashing up in front of my face when I log on!!
My mate trev said to me that Karen would lose her extra baby pounds quicker than my weight loss. It plays on my mind... tick tick tick.. walked 30 minutes on lunch break then went to cycle class. first class i had tried in this.. after 10 minutes my bottom was hurting on the microscopic seat, then she said out of the seat and put up the pressure. I had to stand cycle, lean cycle and most painful of all.. sit cycle. When i left down the stairs my legs were like little bowls of jelly. The good thing was that it only lasted 45 mins! I will take a cushion next time.
Extra baby kgs to lose = 3kgs (that don't seem to be coming off that easily) - especially when you eat Giant Freddos!!! Forget the 3 kgs, it is all the other kgs that I have put on over the years that I would like to be rid of... I want to be able to jog down the street and not have a great deal of 'jiggling' going on!
stupid little rolls last night. i conducted some training which was catered. as the evening wore on i became increasingly annoyed by running behind time and met this with another roll and then another roll. the problem with these little white salad rolls is that you dont feel full, just eating a lot of calories. they dont nurture - they just amuse the tongue. would have been better to eat before and not go for the benefits of a free meal. which really isnt free at all because I wont lose the most weight this week. Just looking through one of my latest 'health' magazines. am planning to try out some new salads this weekend. i am determined to lose 2 kilos this week.
Didn't quite manage to go for a decent walk yesterday - baby not happy in pram and rain in the clouds.. fortunately I did find 20mins on the bike while watching the end of a movie... need to do more moving though.. and less eating!! Walked this morning for an hour which I am pleased about.
no walking for me either - 14 hour work day. today i left work at midday and bought salad etc. no exercise yet... too tired and full from eating 5 or so rice cakes and beetroot dip. must stop now and exercise soon. its funny how you can lose track of some foods... i am yet to see any words like 'i had five or ten brussel sprouts.. who i knows.. i lost count.'
I am impressed with all this activity! I walked for fifteen minutes on Tuesday and my legs hurt so I caught a cab to the meeting! It was only in North Carlton. REALLY!
lol... good on you dish. it is certainly a start. I did nothing today until K let me know she was in her second hour. i jumped off the couch onto the exercise bike (while still talking to her), rode for 15 mins and then the next dvd with that crazy Jillian woman. 25 minutes later i am surrounded by my sweat, then i mopped the floors (not in my sweat)... very tired now. now that you are here dish.. extra inspiration. where is the cookie?
well had a pretty horrid last few days / weekend. We've all had flu which means to hard to go to shop to buy decent food and have eaten every ounce of bread and crap in the house, also includes takeaways of numerours varieties. Think my intake on Sunday was toast for breakfast, toast for lunch and beans on toast for dinner. No wonder i feel like crap with no energy. next day had delivered pizza for dinner, and toast all day... feel like those carbs have puffed me up like a teletubbie.
today had a piece of apple cake for breakfast, egg baggette for lunch and get back on board for dinner and make a veggie fritata for dinner. Will have to print out the recommended spinich pie recipe and try it (i will even try to source the dill, sim!).
Puffing up like a Teletubby is funny... you are funny Cookie!!
Good on you Dish for getting your days food up.. at least now I am not the only one who lists champagne... In fact may be we could just have champagne for lunch instead of food.. Hmmm... A little too much food today, which I will list tomorrow... only a 30 min walk.. but a good paced one. FYI Sim, a mango is 1.5 points (if small) I don't expect a good result for the weigh in.. if it is dissapointing I will be 'pulling my finger out' next week... Oh.. I meant to talk about my shopping centre experience today.. we were walking around the shopping centre and everybody (& their dog) seemed to be eating Heaven ice creams... what the hell was going on I thought and then before I know it we are walking past a promotional girly with a portable freezer who is handing me a delicious chocolate heaven cookie ice cream thing... I should have taken it and thrown it in the bin... instead.. I called it lunch and ate it while walking around Target. Bad choice..
I am finding it quite interesting about the spinach pie vs chinese food debate (?). K makes the point that she had many meals of pie (as did i) and escaped this with a plate of random chinese food which she doesnt really like. the pie is high in protien, vits and fibre and is nurturing; bay marie (?) chinese food is high in fat, salt and carbohydrate. The curiosity seems to be that we want to eat variety, regardless of whether it is good on not. This seems odd - what does it mean? And what has K done with her left over dill? In my poor $ state I am conscious of not throwing food away. I have found dill goes nicely with mushrooms, eggs, fish, and toms. You wouldnt throw away a magnum, but will the dill (which is more $ than the icecream). Pls explain.
I read a book earlier this year that said to refer to eating choices as unwise, better and best. Calling certain foods 'bad' set them up to be bad like john travolta in grease - which we would all like more of (maybe). 'Unwise' has more of a connotation of 'its not really for me'. Better would be having a bite of the magnum and tossing it. Best would be to buy a paddle pop or piece of fruit.
so i lost 1.2 kg this week. doesnt seem much given all the exercise and little eating. yesterday i did the cardio/resistance video (25 min), rode the bike (20 min) and walked (30 min). It was a very restless day. The previous few days i had hit the 'zone'. not hungry, not craving sugar. Yesterday i could have eaten five giant chocolate bears. The previous day I had my writing group. Walked there and back across town (about 60 mins altogether). Drank two lattes rather than eat at the group. Maybe this started the next days sugar cravings- i have read that excess coffee consumption can mess with blood sugar levels. No sleep last night (waking every two hours), didnt want to work, didnt want to stay home. have already eaten two homemade anzacs someone has bought in. blah
Girls will gain if they eat only crap, even if they exercise and are on the move. The key to lose is to continue to move, but along with that, eat good food!!
Well it has been enjoyable to list the daily foods, and some trials & tribulations.. good to read about you lovely gals ...
I will put the 1st week down as a warm up session... My body should now be adjusted to walking a bit more than it used to and also know that finds more enjoyment in eating good foods like spinach pie, rather than Heaven ice creams, or giant freddos. I will also be interested to see if I can go an entire week without eating chocolate.. that would be quite an accomplishment.
I now have to chase Sim who is getting away from me... I am determined... I will have discipline and I will lose....
Well... had a fall yesterday... right off the wagon wheel. mm wagon wheel. it all was down hill from the morning anzacs. the toast didnt help either - and i had it again today. i have hit the low-sugar madness zone, characterised by confusion, inability to think and make good choices, despondency and irritability. Fortunatley in all that food i ate yesterday afternoon there were no pure sugar products (e.g., the icecream was no sugar added). I feel not so good again today. stressed out at work and tired. OUT OF CONTROL! having massage at lunch time.. that might help because one of my gym injuries over the years is giving me a pain in my back. Then seeing my clinical supervisor later in the arvo... she always sets me straight.
slightly better tuesday. i think i posted the food as monday... dont know what day it is. posted food at 7.01pm. not eating again tonight. starting to go bananas. psych supervisor says to stay 'present' more often in what i am doing rather than listen to the chatter in my head... go to the fridge.. go to the fridge.. if i am reading - read, watching tv - watch. be absorbed in the activity rather than letting my mind wander. watch the thoughts and let them pass - not act on them. who put those thoughts in charge... they talk rubbish. watch the rubbish and do what it is i am doing. i think i will go and lay down now.
why do I have the fattest measurements but the lowest weight? I guess that would be because of my "shortarseness"...
Sim - what's with the non-sleeping baby? You sound knackered... hope you getting some rest now.
I'm shattered myself, just back from sleepover at work. Been generally eating ok the last few days - mainly due to being busy at work and not having time to eat - so that helps. The danger time is now when i'm all home alone. Though there isn't much in way of crap in the house at the moment (apart from the chocolate profiteroles Kevin left before going to work)!
Miss smith (oops i mean "mrs hill") your poetry is awful nice! Bad luck about the .1kg adding on... I don't think that you've eatem that bad! and you've been exercising... v. unfair!
Well done to Ms S rodda who has lost a significant amount for the week! yay you!! re. falling off wagon I think we might all have that candida disease - i read about it and that bacteria feeds on sugar and when it doesn't get sugar it makes you crazy cos that what candida lives for!
and if i don't have candida i must have something else. this excess weight is surely not from lying of sofa watching too much day time tv.... (yes - am still in denial).
Well.. good on you Cookie for getting your measurements done and posting some of your eating business. Congrats to Simone for a better Tuesday compared to Monday. My Tuesday was not as good as it could have been... but there were some positives about the choices I made. When driving through McDonalds only chose to get one soft serve cone, chose NOT to eat chips along with Simon for dinner and when I walked past the delicious 'Dreamy Donuts' shop chose NOT to pick a sample of dreamy donut that was shoved in my face and offered. It was unfortunate that I at the ice cream and I really need to cut back on the breakfast items.. I am leaving myself with little points to continue the day with. While pregnant I was so hungry at breakfast time and also had to make sure I got my fill of fibre that I was eating cereal & toast. Now I cannot seem to get out of the habit.. Any suggestions for a wholesome, low point (calorie) breakfast that will satisfy me?? May be Bran Loaf ?
yes i had candida last year with my indian illness. no sugar was allowed for a month - that included yeast (bread) and sugars in substances like sweet chilli and low joule products. it certainly helped to get off the white stuff. Cook - is it cheaper to buy that which is in season? if you like i will send you another veg box for christmans? KSH - i am also having a problem with the breakfast bread. you might have noticed my toasted sandwhich craze plus latte puts it up to a third of the days calories. I too am thinking how to cut them down. The doc told me to eat protein at breakfast e.g., eggs, tofu, beans with a bit of carbohydrate to kick off the day. i was looking at 'bob' from the biggest loser and he reckons protein and carbs at breaky through to protein and no carbs at dinner. i used to eat egg whites at breaky - low cals, high protein. today i had 'simmered toms' which were very tasty (10 toms cooked for 30 minutes and then carmalised onion added, basil, balsamic and little brown sugar). had the toms with one slice of bread. I will give it a go this week to reduce those morning calories!
cookie re your comment.. if not candida it must be something else... well i think i have it all covered. I am still taking all those pills, diabetic med for sugars, progesterone and melatonin for hormones, anti testosterone for those hormones, adrenal meds for those tired sugar desperado glands, and recently added to the mix - a pill for my thyroid. That started a couple of weeks ago. Really! there can not be anything else to treat... The biggest incentive is to lose the weight so some of these expensives go away. between montys kidney disease pills, my pills and my giant tax bill, the money from the job stress barely stays in my account for a few days. Oh well, at least i've got my health?!?!
That's a lot of pills!! You do have your health...and your good looks.. and your sanity! Be thankful. Where is that Dish? Sim - If you get a spare moment, can you try posting her photo please? The day could have been better yesterday... too much breakfast, too many snacks and a very average lunch... had to grab a quick 1 hr walk late in the day.. would prefer to walk earlier. Oh well.. you live & learn!
Did I say previously, 'too much for breakfast'?... using all your calories/points for breakfast with nothing left to eat for the day.. how is eating eggs benedict for breakfast?.. lots of calories in that delicious sauce. Probably not a great choice - but very tasty!! MUST EAT VEGETABLES FOR TEA!!
did you make the quiche K? how? I hosted interviews today - 6 - panel of three... havent done that for years.. not the fun i remember. interesting situation at lunch - we went to a cafe next door and marlyn who has recently lost 11 kilos said she would go and search for something healthier. i had the lentil burger sandwich which bumped up my lunch calories. she found two sushi rolls. mmmm... another example of me being torn - eat what is here or go in search of a better choice. it was 5 hours since breakfast and i was huuuunnngary. so i suppose my choice was ok.
bought a new set of (digital) scales yesterday... so I think my estimate for last weeks weight (using the old fashioned kind was a bit out (by .6 or so kg). so alas it will look as though i've put on this week. which i think will maybe be good for my willpower when i see you ladies losing.
maybe i'll try and have a good next feww days...
today: already had 1 muffin and 2 fried eggs + toast.
tonight: planned to make a healthy(ish) nachos. will go heavy on the vegie chilli i plan to make up and light on the cornchips/cheese. have got a light yoghurt to use instead of sour cream.
K - I too had a bad eating habit after pregnacy of eating before bed - always had to have toast / sandwich before bed to stop feeling sick. find it was hard to stop doing the same thing postpartum though i do find if i force myself to bed though i can avoid this.
re good breakfast things: I go for porridge quite a bit though am guessing its not quite so appetising if its a warm day... On good days i've had boiled eggs on rice or oat cakes. protein filled me up and i could manage without the bread.
question: how healthy is the sushi roll? sushi rice is mixed with sugar and vinegar... i wonder what the callories are compared to lentil burger?
Very interesting reading from you lovely ladies... thanks for the ideas too! Sim - quiche was homemade apart from pastry base (which was bought). Just had eggs, bacon, spring onions & low fat cheese. A regular type of quiche. Eggs & oatcakes sounds good.. I think the bread is ok to have, but just having one slice is sufficient.. it is back to that quantity thing... I will be going to check out the muffin recipe Cookie - sounds good and tasty! Wondering what I could make for dinner tonight - trying to think of something healthy. I might try a Thai dish with some coriander in it... Need to bump up the exercise over the next couple of days.. which is tough because I am suffering with a very sore back at the moment. It is making it difficult to do the basic things. I am sure it was caused by lifting the damn stroller into and out of the boot of the car all the time.. not to mention carrying a baby around who is getting heavier.. I must make better choices today as I would really love to see at least 1kg off by Monday.
NOTE: One recipe added to recipe list. It is a recipe from Weight Watchers website which I will be trying. Will let you know my thoughts when I whip them up!
mmm joined the drinkers club this afternoon. free booze at dept of justice. did i really have to have 3 glasses... AND the cheese. oops i think i had a bit of bread and dip too. who can remember when drinking.. new rule - if i have another drink this month - one only and with some water. The alcohol made me forget what i was supposed to be doing. bad alcohol. There is no such thing as a free drink! On the plus side while i was riding that bike for 60 mins I got off three times at did 3 x60 skipping jumps and 2x30 star jumps. pretty happy about those - i think it is the dvd i have been doing - star jumps are mentally possible. pretty hungry again - another effect of the sugar laden alcohol. must go to bed and drink more water. Off to rodda new farm house tomorrow and to the bannockburn pub for dinner - better write on my hand (do not eat garlic bread). those roddas always order the butter laden white stuff and that is surely a meals worth of calories. plan to walk in the country with the dog with the overbight.
hey there... i added dish and now she is stuck at the top of the page. i dont seem to be able to shift her! maybe you can K. i also lost the side bar quick linke. doh!
Sim - I tried to move the Dish... she wouldn't budge. Can't figure out how to move all the different posts and get all of our heads together.
Yesterday I felt like I did not eat a great deal and yet the points seemed to stack up.
Bannockburn pub for dinner?... interesting. I have never been, but no doubt it will be a very 'country' experience. I will be keen to visit the Rodda's new country land in the future.
Well I tried the chickpea & veg patties that I posted and they were pretty bloody tasty! Some hints for you all - use a firm tofu and DO NOT blend for too long. I used a soft tofu and blended for too long, so they were all soggy and droppy, which just made them fall apart but did not harm the flavour. I also added some garlic and only made 6 in total instead of the recommended 8. Have not been walking enough or doing any form of exercise so must go walking when the baby wakes up!! For me, this weekend I must make good food choices... Good luck to all of you!
window.. ha ha .. went to the new rodda house last night. it took a long time to get there.. drank a litre of water on the way. I didnt realise it was camping conditions! Nice house on good land - but not quite finished yet. True to form garlic (and cheese!) bread was ordered at the banockburn hotel and i ate half of one slice. hooray. I drank about a litre of water with one glass of wine. hooray. This sunday morning i was up at 6.30 and walked/little jog for 40 minutes in the still morning. Then before i left spent 2 hours shovelling and carting dirt and moving pallets and unloading a trailer. Very good form of exercise! Going to try karens burgers tonight.
Yay... lost almost another kilo (.9) pretty happy about that. burgers were quite good (eating one now for breaky) but didnt stick together 100%. maybe they should be allowed to rest before cooking.??
2.1kgs!! Yeah.. Very pleased with that result. I am on your back SR... watch out! Good luck to each of you this week.. it may get tougher throughout this festive season. Festive seasons normally mean eating more... I need to bump up the intensity of the exercising...
Better choices for lunch would be good for me! Now I can have spinach pie for lunch because I just made a new batch last night. Started on a walk yesterday morning with intentions to walk for 1hr, but only last 15mins as looked like it was about to rain.. managed another 30mins only later in day. Need to walk more today.
Stats over the last week - average cals per day 1750 and exercise 55 mins. The 1750 is too high for good weight loss. In the past i needed to sit on 1500. I think i will have to work towards giving up the soy latte in the morning as it is 180 calories. You might have noticed the absence of meat over the last week. i think i am moving back towards vegan with one fish a week to save on buying more vitamins. So good for you cookie - more veg recipes will appear. Re festive season. havent we had that conversation before? is it 'feasting' season or festive season? why does this time of year have to involve more eating? isnt it a time of enjoying others company - not gorging on hip expanding food? I may eat those words on friday - lunch with Govt and work christmas party dinner. Fortunately i work with cheap middle class hippies and we are going to the convent in abbotsford (the in place now) that only serves vege food. Anyway... i guess it has to be said... well done karen on your big loss and getting ahead of me by .1 of a kilo.
Good exercising yesterday - had to force myself to go for the 2nd 30min walk, but felt better for it! Need to find an hour to walk again... Breakfasts are still unnecessarily big.. I need to cut something. I had plans to eat only one toast after my cereal today, but it turned into 2 .. oops! Managed 30mins on the exercise bike, thanks to the good viewing provided by SR (Cold Feet).. I like it!
aww peeete.. jenny says that all the time on cold feet. glad you like it. well you had a good food day yesterday k. I had an 11 hour day at work, hence the numerous snacks. I am training straight after work - so no exercise for me today. however, i have placed the dinner order for my training as 'no bread products thanks'. apparently i have sushi and rice paper rolls and fruit instead. excellent! how is that for forward thinking!! After friday there should be less long days. i have become karen. anyway... was going to eat an late night snack... and then i thought.. oooh that karen will get away from me. that helped. where are the other two? helllo?
I have just taken on some freelance work so also working long hours. Not that I can use that as an excuse. Does wrapping Christmas presents count as exercise?
Well I might re-name yesterday from Wednesday to Chocolateday. I had not eaten a piece of chocolate for about 10 days and just had to have a freddo - was in the supermarket and picked up a small freddo, took 2 steps and then put it back and went in search for it's larger friend the 'Giant'. It was tasty, as chocolate is, but expensive in points. Unfortunately Simon came home later on with a small bar of dark chocolate.. could have chosen not to eat it, but it goes so well with red wine. Lucky I went for that 1 hour walk!
lol.. chocoday... going for a good day today.. working at home and making cookies muffins. Fortunately (?) last nights training was under catered so i just had the two bits of food. that was good. Aiming to exercise twice today as tomorrow is lunch meeting plus work xmas dinner. Feeling like a lie down, not feeling like work. supposed to be checking referees today. so i suppose i could reframe that as having a chat on the phone for a few hours. i could lie down while i do that! Determined to get to 95 by the end of the year. the only way that will happen is to keep the calories at 1500 and exercise every day. COME ON TEAM!
puffed up like a puffy fish with my phantom period today. reminder to self - do not eat or drink more than required at lunch/dinner today. note to self - drink water between meals and drinks.
SR - nice to see we are still in sync with our periods, even though I haven't had one for about 12 months... Yesterday could have been a better day without so much bread.. unnecessary bread at dinner time. I think when I have clocked up a few points in exercise it is easy to overspend in eating... where as if I assumed I did not have those extra points to spend I might lose weight quicker... Weekend challenges - tonight work xmas party at pub and tomorrow night xmas dinner with Andrew & Tracie. As SR would say, note to self - drink plenty of water in between drinks and 'order the fish'!!
great day yesterday. lunch meeting postponed to the new year.. then meetings through lunch so that i only had time to eat the snacks in my drawer. gave away my wine at dinner and drank a bottle of water. vege restaurant... so only vege for dinner. must exercise today.
was tired yesterday and hardly moved. planned to watch dvds (hence the extra snack eating). First movie 'running with scizors (?) was a disappointment. The book it was based on was funny and insightful - the movie lost this. Then i tried 'the history boys' which i only got half way through before i gave it away. i found it tedious and indulgent. so i ate some more and went to bed with a pita bread bulging stomach. not happy with that. you might notice no coffee yesterday - that made me very slothlike. that coffee is a powerful drug! about to walk to ceres and have a coffee - planning to take a pritikin muffin with me so that i dont eat their big yummy cakes.
The food eating in the beginning of the day was pretty good... and barramundi for tea was a good choice compared to some other items on the menu. On the menu it did not state that the fish was going to be served with chips. There were not a great deal of chips but they were very tasty so I ate them all.. They also had my favourite wine on the list so I bought a bottle to share and then nobody seemed to want to drink it.. biggest mistake of the night was not drinking water. I should have been alternating. The good news is that I did some extra exercise while performing a number of Karaoke songs. Not feeling confident on a loss for this week... Got an appointment to go to Fernwood gym next wk - planning to join on their flexi arrangement.. that will assist with the weight loss and the need to tone...
good try! how many points was that creamy sauce? didnt know there was chips.... lol... there is always chips with salad! when i ate out I specifically ordered salad and steamed veg - even though it is a pain in the arse to be difficult. going out with trev and zoe tonight and have scoped some places that might be ok. just walked THREE and a half hours. feet as tired as a as the wilted lettuce in my fridge. had to get that bread off my hips!
put on .3 of a kilo. not at all pleased. i had cut my calories by more than 10% - 1750 to 1557 average over the week. Also continued to exercise. not pleased.
Put on 0.4 Not pleased much like SR, but not suprised. Weekend blow out - not good!! The goal this week is to lose at least 2 kgs. That will only happen with continued exercise... no cheesecake, donating chocolate & overall choosing good foods, with no wine! SR just pointed out to me this morning there is a lot of wine being consumed - just flicked through the daily food myself... terrible!! Can't be good for one's liver or one's point intake. Let's do it!!!
made pizza last night and then threw away the pita bread. at 99 cents a bag i thought i could afford to bin it. ate my home made pizza with min meat, max veg, min cheese. it was good. half an hour later i started thinking how nice another bit of pita would be. of course it is in my bin in the kitchen. i walked to it and thoughts of george costanza came to mind... this is really low... so i tied up the bag and put it in the big green bin outside. problem solved.... no more pizza for a while!
hello ladies... cookie is off the wagon. repeat. cookie is off the wagon...
have had a week filled with much food and much drink... from two xmas dinner and drinks out. only positive was on my works night out i ended up drinking vodka and sodas (well - on top of the champers (cheap aussie) i had at dinner. could have been worse... the vodka and sodas were enough to keep me sober and didn't have horrible hang over next day.
food intake - i think the term gastronomic piggery would be the phrase for it. did ok today with boiled egg/rice crachers for brekie, cheese salad sandwich for lunch, veg and small individual quiche for dinner. not so bad? well when you add on 6 handmade chocolates, a fruit tart and a choc muffin - that's where I come unstuck.
thats me on a sleepover at work - the place is full of cake and choc biscuits - in fact sitting here right next to me. good thing i feel so sick now i couldn't stomach any more bad things. have not weighed last week as I know im up a couple of kg's - but will put my stats down when I get home tomorrow - just to get back on track.
am getting new mp3 for christmas which am going to use at the gym, at the bottom of my street.
its the cheapest gym in town and full of sweaty muscle junkies - not really a ladies gym. in fact i don't think there's even a ladies changing room but they've got the basic machines there. and it costs the same for a membership as it would to go to one of the council leisure centres once a week.
i used to be so good at working around with the buggy... thursday's i used to always walk home from town (almost 6 miles!).
but now my fat is hibernating for winter... it was minus 2 here at lunch time today.
ok - so now that i'm back on the web page - i vow to make tomorrow a good day! i vow not to have one of the choccochino muffins sitting near me for breakfast tomorrow!
A better day yesterday - unnecessary amount of snacks though. Going in to work today for xmas lunch - will make good selections such as plenty of salad and no bread. Thought my back had repaired itself but it is feeling a bit sore today - should be ok for a walk though.
miranda? miranda? I know that name? what is satc? ohhhhh sex and the city - you are soo hip. (i had to google it). lol... you are HILARIOUS cookie. i repeat HILARIOUS.. do they have child minding at the gym at the end of the street? K is also joining a gym. I have been twice this year at approximately $300 a visit. I am sitting here at 8.52pm in shorts and a crop top for exercise... just home from work... but it is surely bed time. i have noticed in the last few days i havent slept as well without the exercise. my legs unexhausted have stuck out of the covers like unlit match sticks. even 20 minutes now would be good. come on team! but i am so tired. come on team! but i want to lie down. Arguing with my lethargic brain is really unhelpful. I am going to ride the bike.....now.
Is the team your body?? Or just your legs?... You are both hilarious!!! Nice to hear from you Cookie cracker. I was shopping today and thought about buying you these pyjamas I found which had cookie monster all over them eating choc chip cookies and it said... love the cookies.. love the cookies... love the cookies... all over it. Thought it would be funny but then decided it might encourage you to eat cookies and that would be bad...
All of these posts gathered together once we have all lost 20+kgs will be excellent for a 'best seller'.
Bloody Lindt balls - I went to work for xmas lunch yesterday and on the way out they give me a box of Lindt balls. Fortunately I put them away in a cupboard and have only eaten one with no plan to eat more. Simon also came home with a raffle prize of Roses chocolates. They are still safe & sealed. Surrounded by chocolate.. feel proud of myself when I can have it in the house and not eat it!!
Thanks Champ - I did have a pretty good day, apart from no exercise. Went and checked out 2 different gyms yesterday and may go and visit a couple more today. Definitely be joining one of them probably with a 3 or 6 mth membership with a plan to do weights & classes 3 - 4 times per week. What are these protein chips you are eating SR?
yes K the chips are aussie bodies - available in the vitamin aisle of the supermarket. near that atkins bars etc. they have 200 cals in a pack, 20 grams of protein and almost no carbs. they are a bit high in fat but only 1.6g of saturated. i like them because they are very crunchy and i feel full after because of the protein. The only thing is they are a bit pricey - about $2.50 a packet.
Mr monty is staying in the hospital tonight because he keeps spitting out yellow green goo all over the place. they want to watch him to try and figure out what his problem is. he was not pleased. big eyes staring at me like i am bad. really! he is the one with the problem AND no job to pay his bills.
tired again tonight - dont expect any exercise - other than reaching for the remote...
I will go looking for those protein chips - you seem to like them a lot! Yesterday rang around a few more gyms and we had settled on joining the cheapest one.. and then I had a suprise phone call from one of the local gyms (Zest) and the Ass. Mgr offered me a half price 12 mth membership with no joining fee. Told me that the staff at the gym each had 2 to give away, so pretty happy with that. $395 for 12mths. We are going there this morning for a bit of a look before making the final decision. I figure that joining for 12 mths won't be a bad thing - should encourage me to keep going, given that I will have paid for it. Good day for you yesterday SR!! well done
spoke to cookie last night.. she had some interesting things to say... Cookie asked if we just listed the highlights of what we eat - so its quite amusing that K added her forgotten lindt ball yesterday. Just to clarify - i list almost everything - if the food is 'free' in ww terms i sometimes miss it - like eating an extra tomato on a rice cake. I always count anything that is over 50 calories (which is nearly everything!).
monty came back from the hospital tonight with many pills. they say that if he doesnt stop sneezing over the fortnight the next step is an MRI. you know.. like a brain scan. apparently it costs $450 for a person and $900 for a cat. he doesnt have a medicare card so he has to pay more. really... what sort of cat gets an MRI?
anyway... gearing up for a weekend of much exercise to make up for the last few days.
The poor orange fellow! Hoping Monty boy stops sneezing and does not need the 'cat scan'!! Protein chips are a big hit - very very tasty... I am sorry I found them now. Funny food day for me yesterday - that is what happens when one does not have a proper lunch... lots of snacks and not the best choices. For all info - much the same as SR I list ALL foods with the exception of some 'free' foods... if i simply list 'salad' it means that it consisted of free food and if it does have something like avocado in it (for instance) I may not list it but I will count the points for it. Glad you are still stopping in for a look and posting stuff Cookie cracker... This weekend - must EXERCISE lots (more than SR) and not eat crap!
Great idea SR but broccoli before bed does not sound appealing... sounds terrible. Better than eating a lindt ball before bed though!!
Not the greatest choices yesterday - I should not have had chicken, cheese & avocado on my sandwich... could have just chosen one of them... a 'big point' sandwich. Unnecessary really... Exercise was good yesterday... D-day is close!!
Lost 1.4, giving me a total loss to date of 3kgs. Didn't quite lose the intended 2kgs but 'gave it a scare'. Pleased enough with the result and looking for a 95 by New Years Eve... apparently it can have any number following it! Congrats to SR on her loss and wish you all the best of luck for this festive week!
well pretty happy with that loss.. 1.6 kilos - puts the 95s firmly in sight... watch out cookie..where are you? average cals for the week were 1500 on the spot, and 31m exercise. slowly reducing food in... but not energy out... need to up that over the next week, even if it is just bike riding. have you worked out your average point K? are they decreasing?
well it wasnt a very good day food wise yesterday. snacks ran out of control - tired and people kept passing nice looking food past my nose at work. then i went out shopping unprepared and hungry. which was all because i hadnt drunk enough water. 'They' say to drink water when you feel hungry because you might really be thirsty - i think that is true. i hadnt drunk much water in the morning and then kept looking for something to eat. note to self drink water today. Tis a slightly difficult day - I spent the last five christmas days with lee - and I feel the loss today. mind you they all werent the happiest of days, but the ritual is srong in my mind. must not let that make me sad because then i will eat like i dont care. better to be mindful of my new life and goals.
Yes - DRINK MORE WATER!!! I must do that too. Yesterdays eating for me was not good - the first 2 meals were reasonable, but throw a couple of tacos and a bit of egg nog in the mix and points go sky high!! The egg nog was tasty but very costly in points. Today will be over but will try to maintain some control and at least may be not exceed yesterdays. Well done to you SR and your attitude is excellent - focus on the new mind, the new body the new fabulous you!!
Merry Feastmas!!! Glad that the christmas feast is out of the way, now can get back on the wagon. Other xmas days that included more alcohol & Dad's shortbread would have been much worse as far as points go - lucky for me I kept it down to only 50 (ha ha)..... I have my shoes nailed to the wagon now!!
so that was 2 1/2 days worth of food in one! cookie where are you? That leaves 875 cals per day for the next four days... assuming i eat nothing else today. veg veg and more veg... water.. water..
last day to end of year weigh-in.. i cant believe how hard it is to make up for two days excessive eating. you would think that the body would say 'fine - i have eaten more than required this week and can live on that'. instead it gets stored in the camel hump and wants more. damn that excessive number of peanut brittles. got to keep moving today...
Well - no change for me!! Stayed the same weight as last week, which after reviewing my points for the week was probably a good result. Total available points for week to stay on track is 161, I ate 211, minus the exercise points took me to about 180. TOO MANY!! I feel fortunate that I sat on the same weight and determined to make sure it moves..
well a great big loss of .3. suppose thats better than a poke in the eye after all that effort. average cals for the week were 1571 and exercise 75 minutes per day. Really that should have resulted in a bigger loss but my sneaky little body doesnt react well to the sugar products and becomes reluctant to release the excess substances. maybe in the next few days it will release the sugar/fat!
Happy New Year! Eating dinner yesterday would have been a better choice, although they may have just added food. We were at a small gathering last night - inevitably there was party food available. I am proud of myself that I only ate a few bits and did not eat piles more. Will need to slowly learn to avoid bad party foods altogether.. Well done to you SR on your loss. It may seem small, but given that it is across the festive period, it is a great result!
well done to you K. only a few points to peg back. me have many. The fault lies with the weather. it was 41 yesterday and 32 overnight in my hot house. i did well during the day, then went to the video shop and saw nandos next door. got some of their chicken and ate it with lettuce and bread. it is fairly high in calories and not all that nice, but it opened the gates to a free fall. more bread and bread and then i thought i would make a big dessert which only made me want more. not able to sleep till after two i kept getting up and eating another piece of bread. bloody going back to work was also a problem, i have loaded myself up with training new staff and organising a new phone line in the same week. people were hassling me and i was getting stressed out. just wanted to lie down last night but the heat was killing me. poor me. the problem with work is that it takes away the time to prepare the food. then i eat take away because i cant face the idea of cooking in the hot kitchen.
Today i woke and steamed the veg and baked the mushrooms in the 10.00am 37 degree heat. again it is too hot. would people please stop emitting stuff into the atmosphere - i dont care for these extreme temperatures. a cool change is supposed to come this afternoon after reaching 40 again.
Anyway back on track. eating bread doesnt make me happy - only bloated like a great big puffy fish.
hello ladies... nice to be back. I think to many things to do before christmas and too much pressure to lose weight made me avoid this website over the "feastmas" period!
yes those scales i bought last month told me i was 97 something kgs yesterday (thought that was with clothes on) so I'm a bit scared to go back and put my stats back on. will do that tomorrow when back at home.
at work tonight with bad case of tonsilitus - soooore throat. it's so sore i can hardly drink water or swollow my own saliva. but - if pressed - yes i was able to swollow down the three mini mars bars down my poor throat at lunch time... so maybe it's on the mend.
quite a lot of reading to catch up on. poor sick monty... it sounded the other day that he was on the "up" so hope he is doing better.
good on K for the gym thing.. is simon joining too? have not been back to my cheapo gym yet but really really do plan to once im rid of this bug. no sim - they don't have creche in the gym. if you can imagine the scuzziest gym in sunshine filled with lots of reprobate muscle bound hoodlems then you're kind of getting the picture - i wouldn't leave my handbag within the walls of that gym let alone a baby...
when reading your comments that thing about "snacking on brocoli before bed" struck me as really funny. wouldn't that be a good name for a book! its almost as funny as sim saying that the brocoli snack "really wasn't that bad"...
anyway congratulations girls on your weight loss - im really well impressed with your determination - both of you!
'Snacking on Broccoli before bed' is an excellent title for a book!!
Hello Cookie - nice to have you back and hope to see more of you on here... thanks for the weight loss congrats.. it is very slow going.
We have all passed through the toughest period (feastmas), therefore we can all now nail our feet to the wagon and drop those kilos.
Simon did not join the gym, but is trying to give up smoking from today, which is good. I joined with my new friend Alison (from new parents group). It amuses me to watch people in the gym.. 'wannabe muscle bound boys' and very fit 'I can eat anything' girls.
cookie put her food up.. thats exciting. and what a good day she had too! my day yesterday was a dinner snack disaster. today is better.. started off with protein which completly changed my day.. i notice on those days i eat bread for breakfast i keep snacking all day.
I went to log on at work this morning and a great big red ALERT appeared. looks like i have been flagged. oh well. i do work in an office called 'healthlink' you would think they would support such a healthy activity! i can imagine my illegal food posts being forwarded to my boss. interesting.
Woo hoo - everybody has been on here. Nice to hear from all and Happy new Year. Not a good Monday of measurements - Have put on a kilo - 1 step forward 2 steps back.... but it could have been worse, given 2 days of travelling in a car. When I think of what I would normally consume while in the car I can only be pleased that there have been definite improvements - still too many points eaten with no exercise.. Thanks for the walk yesterday Sim - I am as red as a lobster and should have skipped the party pie, sausage roll & carrot cake... I WILL be getting to 95 in the next 2 wks!!!!
yes cookie we were at the smith family fun day olympics. are you sure it was just one sausage roll K? I thought i saw you joining a couple together like a sandwich with tomato sauce. lol... really we did try hard not to over indulge. i can tell you when i started to slip - it was after that first beer. As soon as a little alcohol passes my lips i forget that party pies arent my friend (or anyones for that matter). Interestingly, I was trying to remember my thoughts when i took those nachos and it was about 'what will others think'. it is odd, particularly given that the smith family have all 'filled out' (except for cameron and the oldest man and the kids... but party pies and coke will fix the youngest long term..) At those times of putting bad food in my mouth i have no concern for my own goals, just the perception of others. really.... i need to have a good look at myself.
Cookie would you like to come to my 40th birthday? It is in 2009 on new years eve. I am issuing invites now and have a goal in the next 1 year and 355 days of making 96 more friends. It you, sarah and kevin come then that would three less friends required. I suppose i could get a second job to raise the fare, or we could take a wip round. mmmm.... maybe i will get a promotion, but today i phoned in sick with sunburn, so that is not helpful. Wouldnt it be nice to all be thin then...
i did it again... i did it again.. i bought some nice seedy bread yesterday and put it in the fridge.. short memory.. kept cutting more (with my new knife - thanks k). it cuts that bread so nicely. This morning i got a grip and cut the rest and put it in the freezer. that slows the whole process down and then it doesnt look like a snack. good on me.
Hello all... I am back!! Back from my trip to Melbourne. Great to see SR & the Dish!! Read my eating for the trip home.. disgraceful. Those damn fast food joints and their convenience! Happy to be out of the car and back in the land less chaos... can't wait to jump into the gym next week and get walking regularly again. Will be sure and keep all postings up to date now.. SR is gaining a lead.. not happy about that, but well done to her!
An OK day yesterday - could have done without the champagne & lemon meringue pie.. and probably the snacks, but went around to Andrew & Tracy's for tea. Going to the gym next week on Monday, Wednesday & Saturday and will also try to get there one evening to do some cardio... has not been enough weight loss progress in last 3 wks... must rectify!!
yes putting batteries in the scales can be helpful or not. cookie did and hasnt been seen again since. i have had three 12 hour days of training the new counsellors i hired and am exhausted. it is impossible to exercise when exhausted. not to mention ratty at my friend k that apparently abandoned 'the challenge' for a couple of weeks. i used that as an excuse for exercising. 'well if she isnt doing it or supporting others.. i wont'.... seems an excuse? any excuse will do to not exercise. not to mention the day i ate 5 snack sized ice-creams.. that was her fault as well. actually it was also ks fault that it was hot and that i was grumpy. lot on your shoulders k. anyway, new housemate here the last few days who encouraged me to take a walk last night... that helped. it is really not acceptable to have moved along a bit further in the loss.. i worry that we are following the patterns of the past - lose a bit and give it away. as god is my witness i will eat well and exercise this weekend. given that i dont believe in god - that doesnt mean much.... alright.. cyberspace is my witness... and where is cookie?
Patterns of the past - BE GONE!! I do feel this time it is different from the other times... we just need to adjust to a whole new lifestyle... making good food choices, not binging on take away food or mini ice creams and exercising regularly.. Being on the move and visiting many people made it tough.. glad it is over and I can get back to gym, walking and better food.. This gym business is great.. I went yesterday and going again with a plan to take a walk later on... Watch your back SR
the truth is that i'm waiting for y'all to catch up to my weight and then i'll join in!
no... that doesn't sound like the truth does it?
just had a hellish busy week with flu ridden baby cryin all day and night!
i'd weighed myself 2 weeks ago and i was over 98kg and then last week i was 96kg. how does that figure? don't know really..
sooner or later i will get on track with you two impressive kids!
both your menus look impressively healthy - well - apart from the frequent occurences of "mcdonalds and kfc" on some of karens meal posts..
tell you want i need to get is a calarie counter... although i think i've got a good knowledge of what is healthy or not - i think there's probably a lot of hidden calories in some of the foods i eat.
i did buy a pedometer to track my steps per day (though not used it yet), and am going to head to gym after payday at end of month.
sim would very much love to come to your 40th bday party... is very far away so i will need to think about the logistics of doing so!
if we're talking your birthday 2009 then we're probably going to be moving back over to aust in 2010 so don't know if that would work.
Ahh.... the crunchie cookie... nice to hear from you .. buying a pedometer is good. It is too easy to overeat if not writing what you eat down.. you will find it very interesting and may be shocked when you start writing down what you eat!
I am pleased with my day yesterday - 20min on cross trainer, 15min on treadmill at fast walk pace & 15 min on bike.. heart rate varied from 130 - 155... nice and sweaty!!
NICE....and sweaty... mmm... in the eye of the beholder i suspect. Cook, the number of calories in for weight loss is somewhere between 1200 and 1500. As you would notice, the last week i have been sitting on 1800 and will probably not lose this week - wont put on... but wont lose much. apparently 1 kilo is worth about 7000 calories. so to lose a kilo (or 2 pound) you have to eat 7000 calories less in a week. mmmm sounds a lot... a normal person eats about 2500 so it is about cutting out a 1000 a day.
Is that a go-low green packet soy snitzel? i eat those for around that calorie level. It is high, but remember that it is a meal not a snack! if you eat it with steamed veg and salad its ok.
the veg schnitzel things are "quorn fillets" topped with feta and tomato - crumbed.
i don't know if they sell quorn in aus but its a man made protein made from fungi (yum yum). kinda tastes like chicken.
i also have some in the freezer that are in a thai sauce that are only a bit over 300kj compared to the 1100kj - these ones are not crumbed. i guess will need to go for those instead...
should be a good eating day today as am working at two... had two boiled eggs this morn with 2 toast.
have lost my little notebook i bought just the other day! it was perfect size to keep in hand bag very disappointing!
I had a good diet weekend! NOT. Drank so much on Saturday I was too sick to eat yesterday! Good times. It is good to see my friends being so dedicated. Okay. I am aiming for a kilo a week - to take off of course.
My first serious move is to join up for the charity event of FebFast. I don't drink for a month and try and get sponsors - money goes to the drug and alcohol abuse support industry. Wish me luck!
I put together a huge comment yesterday... lost it, so then re-typed it as best as I could remember it and then the computer went to sleep and re-booted... I couldn't believe it.. there was no way I was going to type it again. In short I was simply saying that I had never heard of quorn, I was aiming for a 9 & a 5 (with anything after it) for next Monday... and I would like to add that I am very pleased to see a Cookie & a Dish posting comments
Nice to be chatting online - Tell Kevin that it is a great way to stay in touch so there nyah nyah. LOL.
Only 10 more days of drinking until by "break". :-)
I am off to a "Metal to Maternal" show as part of the Midsumma festival tomorrow. Performance by a transgender ex death metal singer. Ah it is good to live in Melbourne! So much to do. so little energy.
well that is a turn up for the books... i was feeling very UNmotivated and then reading how you both thought i was motivated, decided i'd better get myself a new attitude. karen at the gym, jane not drinking, cookie not listing extreme number of anything...lol.. the world is upside down. do i really have to get off the couch and onto the bike?????
you see what happens... i started letting sugar back in and i am hooked again. choc cake, choc, choc with choc. its out of control. that sweet legal cocaine. i think i will try a beer instead. i have friday off work and monday is a public hol so i am hoping to get four days of exercise in... get me started again... it is so hard to get going after a stop.
I know what you mean champ... get a taste for chocolate and it hangs around for days.... I can't seem to get off bread at the moment. Everything I eat .. I consider having bread with it! I actually notice on days when I eat more than the necessary bread (in excess of 2 pieces) I feel bloated, uncomfortable and heavy!!! I need a substitute... may be 'air' would be a good choice
Ended up having a quiet night last night - no midsumma event for me - asthma playing up. I went to a Australia Day luncheon yesterday. I had 3 glasses of wine but managed to say no to desert (just teasing) (about the spelling)!
Karen, I am impressed- so much exercise while being a Mum too! I am not so impressive.
Simone, glad you are finding inspriation from us being inspired by you!
I consoled my asthmatic self by eating a third of a block of cheese before dinner! Now that is impressive!!!
Hello Dishgirl... hope you are feeling better this morning.. Are you planning to weigh & measure yourself, list your details and get 'in to' this ?? I wish you the best of luck for FebFast... May be you could just drink water from a champagne glass.. trick your mind. I have faith that you can do it!! Go Dish!
No gym for me today... dissappointed as I am becoming hooked.. will have to try to make time for a walk instead. Middle of the day too hot!!
though thinking about it i did 2 hours of housework though so that's got to count?
jane - that midsummer event sounded soooo like you baby! and yes it is good to see you on here.
sim - don't worry i think you're slight indulgences do not beat the rate at which i ate that chocolate hazelnut bar. best just not to buy such things really...
gosh... i really need to drink some water... i don't think i've had any today!!
yes... that bread/sugar cravings are strong in bodies like ours. every gene crying out for more more more!! really got to cut it all out. my skin gets itchy just thinking about it.
payday tomorrow - woo hoo - what along month. will investigate the gym thing this week. a good thing being skint actually as it's meant no "bad for you" ready meals from the supermarket. must keep it up.
Hello girlies... Housework most certainly counts Cookie - 2 hrs of housework is equivalent to burning up about 400 calories.. Bread & Sugar bad... SR and I discussed this yesterday and decided that SOOO many things have sugar in them and many as a main ingredient eg. Sweet Chilli Sce Well done to the Cookster on her walk in the rain.. I imagine that walking in the rain at those sort of temperatures would be less than pleasant - Excellent committment!
Hoping to get to the gym today, but not sure yet. Challenges for me this weekend are out for dinner tonight and BBQ dinner tomorrow.. need to eat sensibly.. if can achieve that I will have had a reasonable week. Still eating too much though.. need to pull it back.
good on you for your walk cookie. i finally pulled myself onto the exercise bike tonight. it wasnt so difficult and i felt better. that sugar free block of chocolate i ate spurred me on somewhat... my sleep has been bad the last week and i know from experience that it is directly related to lack of exercise. i bet k is sleeping like a baby after the gym. well for as long as a baby anyway. meeting dad and kate for lunch tomorrow. will have protein shake for breakfast - havent had that routine for a while. it is all sooooo difficult.
hello chickens... nil exercise today. infact i just raised myself from a wee nap at 5pm in the afternoon.
i found a wee leaflet thing the other day that physio had given for post natal exercises... might start doing some of them in the evening to try and repair my tubby tummy (should make my tv watching time more useful).
not much else happening this weekend - will probably just do a grocery shop tomorrow then working sunday... ho hum!
Too much food yesterday!!! Unfortunately at the supermarket yesterday I discovered a bag of mini lite mars bars that were on special. I am keeping them in the freezer and work well for a chocolate treat at only 1 point. The challenge is stopping at one... so the same thing applies that we have all discovered before.. best to have not bought them in the first place!!! Hoping that yesterday's indulgence has not destroyed my chances of losing this week... Hope you are all enjoying your Australia Day weekend... when did so many people start flying Australian flags out the windows of their cars on Australia Day??
Lost 1.2kgs. Back in the 96's. It is not quite a 9 & and 5 but isn't too bad. Need to ensure that it keeps going down now. Goals for this week are continue the exercise and include more walking and also keep the points to 23...
well done to you karen. i went a kilo the opposite way. not at all pleased. turns out dad is the big winner - he has lost 5 kilos since christmas. says it is all about routine. dinner at 6 and then 45 minute walk run at 7.45. mmm.. good luck to him.
Just had a long weekend! I wasn't very well but managed to have a nice time just pottering around the house. I did energetically clean the house! And because I was unwell didn't eat much. As soon as I felt better I got stuck into the champas and cheese - definitely my biggest weakness. I did lose 1 kg on my first week of being serious about this. LAST WEEK of drinking (well for one month anyway). Started Yoga last night.
I'll go and look at Sarah's web pages now - Karen, there is another challenge for you! A Mackenzie site. I'll put one together for Buffy. LOL.
Body balance class was tough... my body doesn't like to stretch much... and I have no co-ordination for the Tai Chi business.. but I do balance quite well... It is an enjoyable class, but very annoying when people get halfway through the relaxation part at the end and decide to get up and walk out half way through... go before it begins or just stay!! Sarah, Buffy, Monty, Mackenzie... all the little ones mentioned.... Good luck on your non-drinking quest Miss Dish... Last day today before you put away the champagne glasses! Fortunately all of the mini mars bars have been eaten.. which means I can no longer eat them, nor will I be buying anymore. Going OK this week but still need to pull back the food!! Tend to snack too much if I don't eat a proper lunch.. must amend! (what the hell are all these exclamation marks... I must have the Dish disease)
dish disease...interesting. i am pleased to announce i just finished 7 seasons of the westwing in three weeks. it took some doing to get through so many hours but i persevered and got through it.
now i have nothing to do.
tonight i am going to a 'free dance' evening with trev. four hours of dancing by myself. that should get me back into the energising flow of exercise (now that i have nothing else to do). Food has been ordinary - but not too bad. will get back on track now.
I am currently watching both West Wing & Sex and the City. Up to Season 1 disc 2 of West Wing and up to Season 2 disc 2 of SANC!! West Wing is a good show.. but some of the episodes are very ordinary.. and then you get a really good one.. and get back on board... crazy!! No gym today.. hopefully tomorrow
I wonder how much weight one can lose just through sweat... we turned off the air conditioner today (1st time in about 5wks). Thought we better let some real air in the house... but it is too hot.. there is just a horrible wet humid air blowing in!! Good luck to you all
well its not going well... was taking tablets for my thyroid (in case there was something wrong with it). two weeks ago while doing training my world went spotty and i had to call an early lunch. it seemed it was some kind of overdose - so maybe the thyroid is happy. i stopped the tablets immediately (after two months) and in the last week my weight has gone up 3 kilos. really... grrr.
infected ear drum with water and green pus coming oot of it.
yum yum.
remember that girls when you go to the fridge to eat some gooey dessert!
sarah sick as well at start of week.
had some good days and some bad days.
had a few carb / bread free days and i lost two kgs. had two carb filled days and put on 2.5kg. how does that happen in the space of four days.
my only other point of interest is that i went to eat a "good for you" supermarket nan bread with some veggie curry the other night and it was worth almost 1400kjs.. that's ridiculous and just not right!
delicious as it was i may write to the supermarket to complain. what's "good for you" about that? almost a whole days calories? j xx
sim - what's with the meds over load - you poor seeing stars poppet... be careful baby! don't want you collapsing on the stair master!
stair master good luck. put on weight again this week. really.... its just not very funny. the woman that sits next to me at work (who lost 12 kilos in 10 weeks) has been away 5 weeks (she is back today) my parting words to her were...' see you when i am 5 kilos lighter'.. very disappointing beinmg just the same.
Cookie - you can have a few more than 1400 kjs a day.. you are confusing kilojoules with calories...Some of those breads can be bad... Oh well, you were trying to eat 'good for you' stuff. SR - Damn tablets... I hear your dissappointment ..Aside from everything else we need to do 3 things.. EAT LESS, EAT WELL, EXERCISE... The 3 E's... I am determined this week to make better food choices and not eat so much... I am comfortable on the exercise front.. just need to keep it up. C'mon SR - we need to do this.. we need buckle down!!!! Cookie - you poor petals.. always seem to have the flu. I guess if Sarah picks up nasty bugs from day care she brings them home and everybody gets them... hope you are feeling better soon Wonder how the Dish is doing on her FebFast????
I put on 0.3kgs. Dissapointed but I should not be suprised because I AM EATING TOO MUCH!!!!
ahhh... that's calories! yes K I was getting the two confused. All that outrage over nothing! wow... what a staggering insight i have into this "calorie counting thing!".
yes... diseases are brought back to this house all the time - hence being the house of bad health. my ears are so blocked i feel like i'm walking around in a bubble. how awful it would be to be deaf...
have taken couple days of work to recover and sarah is at day care now... so i've a few short precious hours to myself to rest up! bliss.
sim - you have been a powerhouse of motivation on this page... you just need to climb back up on this old wagon you are driving. hey - im doing worse than you... i put on more this week due to carb binging. not to mention that my waistline is inordinately large compared to you other two sprights.
kar - .3's nothing baby - you could put that on by drinking a glass of water before weiging and having wet hair from the shower! i say good on you for your gym committment! (i'm currently searching for my gym committment - i'll pass on to you when it has been located).
i watched an autopsy on tv the other day (as you do). it was a programme on health/obesity and at the end they did a live autopsy on a 20/30 stone man. they were talking a lot about the increased risk about putting on weight around the middle - the stuff you know and hear often - but when they showed you the thick layers of fat - it was actually wrapped around the heart and lungs real thick - like almond icing on a wedding cake it was pretty staggering. in this guys case the fat was constricting his heart and it was also pushing his lungs up into his chest - as the organs had no where else to go!
mmm. a tasty morsel of info for my aussie pals to digest.
i wonder if my fat is sqishing my eardrums so that i can no longer hear??
sim - did you go to your "freedance" session the other day?
very free spirited of you...
kevin said it reminded him of this "peep show" episode when the main character goes to such a place to impress a chick. v.v. funny - i think it can be downloaded from the 4oD (channel 4 uk) website if you have the time and inclination to tear yourselves away from the west wing. i kind of lost interest after eye candy rob lowe left the scene.
I don't know what happened to my last post so I will try again....
Fourth day of Febfast and all good so far. My family organised lunch at a winery on Sunday and I managed okay. First time I have been sober with my family for a long time!
Justine - I hope you and Sarah are feeling better now. At least you know that you are both building up your immune systems.
Simone - keen to know how the free dancing went.
Karen - you are quite the gym woman! very impressive.
funny people. just dont know where to start. a calorie = 4.2 kilojoules. Daily calories are between 1200 and 1500 or 5000-6300KJs. I promised karen that i would exercise for one hour each day this week. just got hom at 8.40. runners are at work. Can i forgo exercise if i dont eat dinner?
no sms response... so i will just go to bed.
free dancing..well it cost $12 bucks. there were about 20 others in a very big room. bare feet. some dancers, some like me. min lighting and bean bags. no judging which was nice. trev liked it - which was surprising - so we will go back this friday. at least it is movement.
hi janey... good for you doing 4 days febfast... any hints on how to avoid things you are partial too??
sod's law with the family lunch being at a winery... lol... dear me! that must be the ultimate test i'd say!
my ears are still blocked and ringing like a screachy car alarm. its pleasant really... i'm suddenly agreeing and nodding at everything kevin says... and we're gettin' along great! of course i can't actually hear half of it which seems to be the trick.
yeah i think free dance sounds cool. if i lost loads of weight i'd go to a proper hiphop kinda dance class (too many jiggly bits to do so right now). am i showing my age - saying hip hop? i think now its "crumping"... (got stuck on mtv by mistake one evening...
right. im gonna go and write down right now what i've eaten today. cos i don't have a clue what i had yesterday all i remember was what i had for dinner which was stuffed mushrooms with veg chilli. (my stuffed mushrooms were a disaster but i ate them anyway.
sim - working late is no very good for exercising... are you awful busy at work now? you sounding tired baby.
karen - i knew you would be into the autopsy info... you always had a soft spot in your heart for the blood and gore! it was fascinating - really - i always thought the fat on bodies kind just sat under the skin but it's actually in all these different gaps and pockets inside the body!
anyway.. hope you're all having lovely days at home... work... wherever... karen - did you say you were at work the other day - for morning tea?
Simone in answer to your question - Five days and counting! Very annoyed no weight loss yet. There has to be some benefit besides giving my liver a rest. I bought some ginger grape juice on the weekend, lets see what that is like.
Still no physical activity. I did run from a meeting to get my car out of the car park before 9pm. Talk about jiggly bits.
Better get back to work. ho hum.
Justine - keep nodding and smiling - sounds like you have found the bonus of ringing ears.
Always look on the bright side of life (whistle whistle).
Hello chickens.. Nice to hear from all... it is definitely OK to skip dinner instead of exercising SR... hope that worked out well for you! Well done to you Dish on your FebFast thus far.. Cookie crumpet - where is your notepad to carry with you for writing down food?? Get a new one! At work the other day for a morning tea Farewelling the boss (Andrew).. I have popped in to work on special occasions 3-4 times over the months. Planning to begin back May 1st. Which will make the lovely visit from SR & Dish extra special at end of April... celebration before going back. Gym was way too busy last night.. had to fight for machines Apparently my legs & bum are shrinking but not my tummy (according to my husband)... I think it was meant as a compliment!
you are all funny. cookie getting along better with kev because she cant hear. it reminds me of the time when pregnant she asked kev for their address.
i was actually at book club last night. wound up talking about diets and mentioned dad saying 'yep i walk every day at 7.45 for 45 minutes... i think i will continue for two more months'.. why is it for some people they make up their mind to exercise and just do it without any whinging and whining. he just said 'yep, i am doing that' and that was that. me... i have taken my runners to work every day this week and found excuses not to leave my comfy chair. really. its quite odd. good on the dish for being on the wagon. good on you.
Enjoyed a nice bottle of organic no sugar sparkling ginger grape juice last night! LOL.
I have purchased a "time out" certificate (part of the Febfast program) for a friend's birthday dinner so I am looking forward to a non-organic sugar filled alcoholic sparkling on Saturday!
Simone - didn't your Dad retire? I think you are being unfair on yourself anyway - you work long hours, have a lot of pressures on you and yet you still manage to fit in lots of exercise and healthy food. Focus on what you do achieve! And if it makes you feel better think of how useless I am - I only exercise once a week and have not managed one day of fully healthy eating yet. :-)
thanks dish. i am much more on track now. something clicked three days ago. I think it might have been Ks stern words. Or it might have been the fact that the qld conference and ks birthday is in 10 weeks (we are going up cookie) and damned if i am going to see k without being thinner!!!! (than her)
Dad sort of retired - became a casual prison officer. still working 60 hours a fortnight.
I look forward to reading dishes food diary when a full good day is completed!
I can see some kind of fashion parade body show happening in April - we could have a swimsuit showing.. then an evening gown showing... and may be a casual showing... And somebody can be crowned - Ms 'Lost more weight than the others'... Craziness! Be damned if I am going to be heavier than you SR when you get here!! By hook or by crook (what the hell does that saying mean)
Oh no. The competitive streaks are showing!!! I state now that I am not competing against anyone! LOL.
I spent some of my alcohol savings on a pedometer today. Only 2,000 steps today. I am going to have to walk around in circles at the bar tonight. Yes I am going to a BAR. Going to see my friend's band tonight. By sober self. ho hum.
LOL... karen is always trying to drag you in miss jane. and cookie... where is cookie...
2000 steps isnt very far.. a few trips to the photocopier.. actually i would be lucky to have walked 200 steps today. better get on the bike now. (kisses to you K)
Hmm... SR seems to be on track again. Lots of exercise going on! Made some good choices yesterday in a house full of party food. Ate a ton of carrot sticks with Tzatiziki... It was Simon's bday, hence the party food & chocolate cake. He thinks he is 5 yrs old and requested party food for dinner.. do you know that there is only 1.5 points in a mini party pie & 1/2 a point in a cocktail frank! Still tipping over slightly in the points, but not extreme... Where is that Cookie cracker?
interesting dinner K. i see - party food. not many vitamins amongst it - party pie does not make for good ever ready energy. no fruit either - i thought fruit was your friend? yes no fruit for me either... must eat the half cantelope today. lots of cs in that.
yes lots of the same food yesterday. donna hay's latest magazine has 100 fast reciples... one was steamed chicken layered with ginger, garlic, lemon splashed with soy. it was excellent and as seen on the food page i made enough for all day eating. good on donna.
have been spending all my free time in bed with a trashy crime novel... convalescing from the flu.
good thing i found my little notebook which am now keeping in my handbag for food diary. have had some reasonable days... could be better but at least i am kicking my bread addiction! need to up the fruit and veg quota but i think i'll handle this when i'm feeling a bit better.
mmmmm... ginger grape juice... boy that sounds like a swell tipple jane! if you smoked a joint with it you could almost imagine that it was champagne!! (lol... maybe that's not a very healthy suggestion). good on miss K for the veg intake at simon's birthday. is hard to not nibble constantly on bad things at such events! nice to hear simone you are back on the wagon!
re. exercise and dad... it is something when you hear someone decide to do something then the just er... do it. is that singlemindedness? willpower? maybe we are just too spoilt for choice these days and are able to flip-flop on the decisions we make in our lives. you know - like the many times we have decided on a restaurant and then had to leave because we've changed our minds.
maybe we (ie. me) needs to make up our minds to choose a programme and stick to it!
anyway enough crapping on from me. can i come for your birthday karen?? pleeease? i'd love a trip home for a bit. a couple of weeks in the warm weather would be fab. don't know about the swimsuit parade i'd have to pick up the exercise and start working on reduction of cellulite... my ass looks like i've swallowed a bag of marbles (or two).
very interesting words cookie.. spoiled for choice. my single mindedness keeps changing. my pysch supervisor suggested i was a bit like her a while ago - like a magpie constantly turning my head at shiny things. "oooh what about that" mmm chocolate.
Lol... I am picturing a magpie going in to a restaurant and then being dazzled by the lights from the restaurant across the road.. lol You 2 are funny!!! Magpies with their beady little eyes and head darting from one side to the other... We are definitely spoilt re choices... Too many brands in the supermarkets to choose from, too many restaurants, too many coffee combinations.. too many delicious sweet dishes... too many excuses to eat too much! I think I might get off to the gym now Good on you Cookie for finding your notebook and writing down your food intake. Now I feel like porridge!
Justine I hope you have finished your trashy crime novel and your flu! I hate having the flu - I get so miserable.
Karen - I am very impressed by your willpower at Simon's birthday - please wish him happy birthday for me.
Simone - sounds like you are back in action mode and looking forward to the swimming costume competition. LOL.
As for me, I didn't make 10,000 steps on the weekend but I did do yoga and eat quite well. I will start trying for the 10K steps properly today. Off to my first Board meeting as a official Board member today! very daunting.
Chat soon.....J PS. Justine - Wouldn't it be ace if we were rich and you could pop over for K's birthday. Oh well. We will just talk about you instead. :-)
I am on a huge yo-yo going up and down...up and down..up and down!! Dissapointed with a loss of 0.4. Clearly I am still eating too much! I thought you did well SR to come in as you did ... must be your hard work at the exercise. Nice to see everybody on here more regularly... Dish - on the board of what?? Cookie - who drinks martini's?.. were you out and about?
Karen - it is the Board for Victorian Women's Housing Assoc. I did pro bono work for them last year - Penny and I did their marketing plan. So, it is a voluntary (unpaid) position.
hello ladies... yes over the flu... still missing about 15% of my hearing but they say it will return!
yes - made it out last saturday night - just a meal out with kevin and had a wee cocktail before heading home. in bed and sleeping before midnight.. how things change! (yes - that explains that ultra long post on sunday night waffling on and on!!! i don't drink anymore and now - when i do - i get quite giddy!).
looks like ive lost this week - hooray! i hardly ate any bread which is def making a difference to me. (hence all the bloody rice cakes. getting used to them really). also there were flu days where i really didn't eat much.
have not been using my food diary the last few days - am always rushed on my working days and kinda just forgot! good on K and S for your weight loss this week... every little bit counts!
jane - your board position sounds quite impressive! very interesting too... hope it went well. how is febfast going??
We will get our motivation to stop eating bread from the Cookster!! Good on you! Having an OK week.. chocolate found it's way into my day yesterday.. damn brown delicious stuff. Simon, Mackenzie and I are off on a mini holiday today - going to Caloundra to a resort for a long weekend.. will try not to gorge myself at the breakfast buffet. I must keep in mind a possible 9 & a 5 on Monday... Will throw in my next comments on Sunday evening. Enjoy your weekends
Hello everyone....febfast is going okay. A "time out" occasion costs a $15 donation. Only one so far. It is getting easier. I am thinking of keeping this pattern going. I had a trip to Sydney yesterday and went with the attitude - if it is free eat it! So I don't think I'll meet my goal weight this week. LOL.
Justine - hope your hearing comes back soon! And I bet your liver is as good as new by now!
what is with cookie and her pikelet explosion... that is funny... sooo many pikelets.. although i cant talk - icecream and bread for dinner last night.
very tired at the moment. had blood tests two days in a row week. again they had to go digging for my reluctant slow blood. i also had an ECG and a heart rate monitor attached to me for 24 hours. the least amount of fun with that is that i couldnt shower and still had to exercise. i am back for results of tests next friday. doctor thinks it is adrenal fatigue. symptoms are 'inability to lose weight, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, light headedness, blurred vision, heart pulpitations' all of which i have. the diet for such a condition says no coffee (amongst others choc, sugar, white flour etv).... i think i will wait for disease confirmation before giving up my morning cup!
Hello there!! Dish - good on you with the FebFast business.. Pikelets with golden syrup do sound delicious but they seemed to become dessert with every meal... MMMmmmmm...... SR - contraption girl... good on you for facing your 'blood taking' fear and getting all of that business done.. can only be for the good!! let me know what you find out next Fri from Doc! Well... a nice weekend - BUT, Mackenzie was a little bit sick has her first cold, which her father has now caught.. the rain did not stop all weekend, so we could pretty much go nowhere. I did take the poor baby for a 30min walk on Saturday, but that is it for exercise!! and finally.. Buffet breakfasts are just too tempting for me.. they had such nice fresh fruit & yoghurt & cereals, but I could not stop there.. I had to try the delicious lightly spiced sausage & the 'made to perfection' scrambled eggs... thankfully I said a big no to the chocolate danishes & muffins!! Something I guess I have always known - KAREN, STAY AWAY FROM ANY BUFFETS!!!
lol..lol... maybe we need t-shirts .. it goes back to cookies remarks on 'too much choice'. a buffet definitely has too many options. I told them at work i was putting my picture on the snack machine - do not sell to this person. a kind of self-exclusion program. maybe we need to post your pic on buffets. lol.. on the plus side it looks as though you hardly ate anything the rest of the weekend.. worrying about the peanut probably.
i have taken it very easy this weekend and done short amounts of exercise and eaten less. feeling less tired. have even turned off the tele in lieu of reading. hard to eat and move your eyes at the same time.
There's the Dish - Nice to find you again and congratulations on the 10,000 steps! Well finally I have found a weight starting with a 9 & a 5... pleased enough with result this week 0.8 loss. Well done to Sim on her loss and her new 6 meals a day plan! I didn't realise you have put in a weight against last week's date Cookie - only just found it.. well done to you, travelling in the right direction and leading the pack
wouldnt say that was a good day yesterday. a girl my age got engaged and bought in her extra chocolate cake (white and dark and choc swirls). it sat near my desk and i snacked on it like it were nuts. really. not good. made my head my dizzy and i could not concentrate and had to leave early. today no work at all. going to clean house and see a film instead. sounds much better.
Cleaning the house & watching a film sounds a LOT better than work... choc cake sitting near your desk is too tough!.. a bit like the easter eggs that used to live in my office at work last year - a spare 80 of them that I would snack on in the afternoons. The rest of the week will be better SR.. stay away from the brown delicious stuff (and I don't mean gravy).. I must do the same!
Good on you Dish for going to the yoga - I know what you mean by feeling sick during. That is how I feel during the body balance class with some of the tough stuff... but afterwards... Ahhhhh... lovely and stretched and relaxed!! Last night after dinner I wanted something sweet (as per normal) and really liked the look of the mini magnum ice creams that chalky had bought.. checked the points on them and found that they were worth 4, so skipped it and decided a ww ice cream was a much better choice. I was pleased with that decision and satisfied enough with my low fat choc ice cream.
well the results of some tests sent me off for more tests. doc beliefs i have some sort of infection. so i had more blood tests of the weekend, poo collection tomorrow, ultrasounds of my tummy and uterous later in the week and prickng my finger when i muster the strength to collect blood for a food allergies test. now we all know that i must be allergic to bread and icecream because i eat so much of it... but when a test says so...mmm.. in the mean time i am to give my liver a bit of a break. i was given some fibre formula and working towards cutting out unhelpful stuff. first to go was coffee yesterday. i cant believe what power one cup has - i had a headache all after noon. a few days off the coffee.. and then sugar.. ahhah honey honey
sugar... da da da da da da da.. aha..honey honey... da da da da da da da
Went up 0.3kg today - expected due to overeating, no gym for 2 days and 'flo came to town' (as Charlotte says on SATC. Planned to go to the gym yesterday, but my legs were still suffering from the pump class.. OOOh - those squats & lunges do the job!! Caused me some pain but good pain. Good luck to you SR in getting off your substances. I will go out and buy the book.. and we will begin our detoxification Saturday 8th March for 2 wks!!

1 – 200 of 433 Newer› Newest»walked for hours yesterday.. maybe three. Went to dinner with trev and zoe and picked at the high calorie singapore food. We then walked from collingwood to carlton to cheer in labor at the union hub of vic - trades hall. walked back to abbotsford at midnight. feet very sore today. weight has not moved. maybe tomorrow when the counting really starts. go away weight. go away.
handy hint for today - a cup of mango is only 100 calories. The same as two bits of a mars bar.
Bought three mangos this morning... odds are mangos will be as rampant as donuts in the following food posts.
hungry hungry hungry hungry....drinking tea. still hungry.. hungry... hungry
time of previous post 3.49pm.. hungry still just a minute later..
hunger gone.. forgot my masters results came out yesterday. just checked and i got 90%. Wow... the lecturer said he didnt give HDs.
10,000 step is apparently the way to success. might get one of those too cos I do many walking during the day at work without noticing.
where is jane standish?? does he not want to join our public fat fighterthon?
yes many typos from me i know... must hurry as computer is in sarahs room and wouldn't you know it she wants to go to bed. love to all j xx
Wow.. well done to you Sim on your excellent result!
It seems you are having excellent results all round...
I would like it noted that the Spinach Pie is indeed quite tasty. I made a batch last night and ate it for dinner... having it now for lunch and have frozen many more pieces.
Simon even ate it last night (with a side of lamb chops)
Thanks for the recipe Sim!
REALLY!
:-)
lol... good on you dish. it is certainly a start. I did nothing today until K let me know she was in her second hour. i jumped off the couch onto the exercise bike (while still talking to her), rode for 15 mins and then the next dvd with that crazy Jillian woman. 25 minutes later i am surrounded by my sweat, then i mopped the floors (not in my sweat)... very tired now. now that you are here dish.. extra inspiration. where is the cookie?
hello dieters,
well had a pretty horrid last few days / weekend.
Will have to print out the recommended spinich pie recipe and try it (i will even try to source the dill, sim!).
oh - and will do my measurements tonight.
FYI Sim, a mango is 1.5 points (if small)
I don't expect a good result for the weigh in.. if it is dissapointing I will be 'pulling my finger out' next week...
No sleep last night (waking every two hours), didnt want to work, didnt want to stay home. have already eaten two homemade anzacs someone has bought in. blah
Gained 0.1 this week - no suprises there!
Then seeing my clinical supervisor later in the arvo... she always sets me straight.
slightly better tuesday. i think i posted the food as monday... dont know what day it is. posted food at 7.01pm. not eating again tonight. starting to go bananas. psych supervisor says to stay 'present' more often in what i am doing rather than listen to the chatter in my head... go to the fridge.. go to the fridge.. if i am reading - read, watching tv - watch. be absorbed in the activity rather than letting my mind wander. watch the thoughts and let them pass - not act on them. who put those thoughts in charge... they talk rubbish. watch the rubbish and do what it is i am doing. i think i will go and lay down now.
hi ladies,
right - measurements finally done.
why do I have the fattest measurements but the lowest weight?
Good luck to all of you!
i cant see jane's posts at all... or not a recent one. am i missing out?
or were you talking about photos?
yeah - some good eating today...
scrambled egg and toast (b)
cheese and toast (lunch)
out for dinner tonight at stupid hard rock cafe which will probable only have vegie burger and chips to eat.
and lots of wine to drink! hey... its christmas.
weather is diabolical today - sleet, rain, window. got covered in ice just going to car.
am sure motivation will renew itself when i see you lovely ladies losing weight next monday!
err. that was "wind" (in previous post) as opposed to "sleat, rain, window".
window.. ha ha .. went to the new rodda house last night. it took a long time to get there.. drank a litre of water on the way.
After friday there should be less long days. i have become karen. anyway... was going to eat an late night snack... and then i thought.. oooh that karen will get away from me. that helped. where are the other two? helllo?
Hi there!
I have just taken on some freelance work so also working long hours. Not that I can use that as an excuse. Does wrapping Christmas presents count as exercise?

Word of the Day for Wednesday, December 12, 2007
dishabille \dis-uh-BEEL\, noun:
1. The state of being carelessly or partially dressed.
2. Casual or lounging attire.
3. An intentionally careless or casual manner.
Nice to hear from the Dish!!! Hello there.
Let's do it!!!
made pizza last night and then threw away the pita bread. at 99 cents a bag i thought i could afford to bin it. ate my home made pizza with min meat, max veg, min cheese. it was good. half an hour later i started thinking how nice another bit of pita would be. of course it is in my bin in the kitchen. i walked to it and thoughts of george costanza came to mind... this is really low... so i tied up the bag and put it in the big green bin outside. problem solved.... no more pizza for a while!
hello ladies... cookie is off the wagon.
repeat.
cookie is off the wagon...
have had a week filled with much food and much drink... from two xmas dinner and drinks out. only positive was on my works night out i ended up drinking vodka and sodas (well - on top of the champers (cheap aussie) i had at dinner. could have been worse... the vodka and sodas were enough to keep me sober and didn't have horrible hang over next day.
food intake - i think the term gastronomic piggery would be the phrase for it. did ok today with boiled egg/rice crachers for brekie, cheese salad sandwich for lunch, veg and small individual quiche for dinner. not so bad? well when you add on 6 handmade chocolates, a fruit tart and a choc muffin - that's where I come unstuck.
thats me on a sleepover at work - the place is full of cake and choc biscuits - in fact sitting here right next to me. good thing i feel so sick now i couldn't stomach any more bad things. have not weighed last week as I know im up a couple of kg's - but will put my stats down when I get home tomorrow - just to get back on track.
am getting new mp3 for christmas which am going to use at the gym, at the bottom of my street.
its the cheapest gym in town and full of sweaty muscle junkies - not really a ladies gym. in fact i don't think there's even a ladies changing room but they've got the basic machines there. and it costs the same for a membership as it would to go to one of the council leisure centres once a week.
i used to be so good at working around with the buggy... thursday's i used to always walk home from town (almost 6 miles!).
but now my fat is hibernating for winter... it was minus 2 here at lunch time today.
ok - so now that i'm back on the web page - i vow to make tomorrow a good day! i vow not to have one of the choccochino muffins sitting near me for breakfast tomorrow!
takin' it one step at a time...
j xx
A better day yesterday - unnecessary amount of snacks though. Going in to work today for xmas lunch - will make good selections such as plenty of salad and no bread.
Thought my back had repaired itself but it is feeling a bit sore today - should be ok for a walk though.
lol... sim i didn't read your last post properly. v-funny.
funny how those sugery carbs call to you in the night...
"come eat more of me... come taste my satisfying breadiness"...
also like that episonde of satc where miranda made and ate a whole chocolate cake.
miranda?
Surrounded by chocolate.. feel proud of myself when I can have it in the house and not eat it!!
you had a good day yesterday K!
This weekend - must EXERCISE lots (more than SR) and not eat crap!
what has helped the last few days is cooking more 'free' veg with dinner - last night i snacked on brocholi before bed. really it wasnt too bad!
D-day is close!!
woops... wrote my comments on the food page... dim sim for a snack K? interesting...
That leaves 875 cals per day for the next four days... assuming i eat nothing else today. veg veg and more veg... water.. water..
I better eat lettuce leaves with a sprinkling of 'air' for the rest of the week....
air is points free! lucky you.
Happy enough with yesterdays effort - could have eaten a couple of less snacks, but a good effort and good exercise!!
C'mon team..... need a 9 and a 5
last day to end of year weigh-in.. i cant believe how hard it is to make up for two days excessive eating. you would think that the body would say 'fine - i have eaten more than required this week and can live on that'. instead it gets stored in the camel hump and wants more. damn that excessive number of peanut brittles. got to keep moving today...
'wannabe muscle bound boys' and very fit 'I can eat anything' girls.
lol.. you two are funny bunnies..
cookie put her food up.. thats exciting. and what a good day she had too! my day yesterday was a dinner snack disaster. today is better.. started off with protein which completly changed my day.. i notice on those days i eat bread for breakfast i keep snacking all day.
I went to log on at work this morning and a great big red ALERT appeared. looks like i have been flagged. oh well. i do work in an office called 'healthlink' you would think they would support such a healthy activity! i can imagine my illegal food posts being forwarded to my boss. interesting.
Hi everyone!
About to go and buy some potato cakes. Hang-over today. Went to the movies and then a friend popped in! And oops I drank too much.
Happy new year!
xxx
well if it isnt the dish and her potato cake eating. k has gone missing on a road trip to melbourne. looks like its a competition of one.
having a pretty good day today... not had too much as yet!
sim - i'm here with renewed vigour and some scary stats to be posting tomorrow.
i've vowed to go all low carb again and see if i can't catch up to you too! no matter that i may feel faint or get "atkins" breath!
well today isn't a hugely low carb day but is certainly wheat free which i think is good for me.
sim - were you at a party yesterday - as you seem to be eating party food - ie. party pie, hot dog, cake .
scared to do my stats tomorrow but i shall - knowing that im the heaviest of all three of us is really putting a bug up my ass!
i miss potato cakes...
they don't sell them here.
and i miss potato gems... don't sell them here either!
This morning i got a grip and cut the rest and put it in the freezer. that slows the whole process down and then it doesnt look like a snack. good on me.
talking to meself...da da da da da da da talking to myself....
I just ate a Apricot Danish and thought of you!
I spent the weekend with my nephews. We watched all of Arrested Development. NO exercise for me.
Oh and I fed us fast food for every meal. LOL.
Thanks again Simone and Karen for coming in to town for a birthday breakfast. It was great to see you both.
I put batteries in my scales this morning. Yes, I am going to set myself a goal!!! ARGH!
yes putting batteries in the scales can be helpful or not. cookie did and hasnt been seen again since. i have had three 12 hour days of training the new counsellors i hired and am exhausted. it is impossible to exercise when exhausted. not to mention ratty at my friend k that apparently abandoned 'the challenge' for a couple of weeks. i used that as an excuse for exercising.
Gee... I have a lot to feel bad about...
Watch your back SR
hello kittens.
the truth is that i'm waiting for y'all to catch up to my weight and then i'll join in!
no... that doesn't sound like the truth does it?
just had a hellish busy week with flu ridden baby cryin all day and night!
i'd weighed myself 2 weeks ago and i was over 98kg and then last week i was 96kg. how does that figure? don't know really..
sooner or later i will get on track with you two impressive kids!
both your menus look impressively healthy - well - apart from the frequent occurences of "mcdonalds and kfc" on some of karens meal posts..
tell you want i need to get is a calarie counter... although i think i've got a good knowledge of what is healthy or not - i think there's probably a lot of hidden calories in some of the foods i eat.
i did buy a pedometer to track my steps per day (though not used it yet), and am going to head to gym after payday at end of month.
sim would very much love to come to your 40th bday party... is very far away so i will need to think about the logistics of doing so!
if we're talking your birthday 2009 then we're probably going to be moving back over to aust in 2010 so don't know if that would work.
will ring and discuss...
good luck to you both for weigh in on monday xx
oh - and i also have bought a wee note pad to record food intake...
just making dinner and noticed that the vegetarian schnizals i sometimes eat are about 1100kj... my - i think that is quite a lot!!
and hey - anyone have any other good recipes to add?
oh - and i remember sim you saying but what is the aim for kj per day to lose weight?
sim - hope you have recovered from exhausting week.
nice that karen has such broad shoulders for which to load on such blame!
karen - good you are settled down back at home and after your world wind tour down under..
might try you chickens on the phone later.
Ahh.... the crunchie cookie... nice to hear from you .. buying a pedometer is good.
Take care.

hi janey... febfast sounds pretty good! i think we are the only two who have logged on...
yes - our two friends are quite committed arent they! i'm quite impressed.
i bookmarked this page on kevin's "favourites" the other day and now he thinks he's gonna start checking up on me and posting comments!
yes, he thinks it's hilarious. i'm going to delete the history and the bookmark to stop him getting in!
So much to do. so little energy.
xxxxx
well that is a turn up for the books... i was feeling very UNmotivated and then reading how you both thought i was motivated, decided i'd better get myself a new attitude. karen at the gym, jane not drinking, cookie not listing extreme number of anything...lol.. the world is upside down. do i really have to get off the couch and onto the bike?????
Here is extra motivation - walked for 30mins today and going to a 7:30pm body balance class... back to the gym tomorrow morning for a workout!!
mmmm
you see what happens... i started letting sugar back in and i am hooked again. choc cake, choc, choc with choc. its out of control. that sweet legal cocaine. i think i will try a beer instead. i have friday off work and monday is a public hol so i am hoping to get four days of exercise in... get me started again... it is so hard to get going after a stop.
I need a substitute... may be 'air' would be a good choice
dont know about you but now i cant stop thinking about chocolate sandwiches.
burp burp burp bread bread bread.
Morning everyone!
Take care!
love

PS Off for FIVE days!! Woo Hoo!!!
PS. I love exclamation marks!
Middle of the day too hot!!
hello chicken lovers (and jane!),
nil exercise today. its snowy and cold...
though thinking about it i did 2 hours of housework though so that's got to count?
jane - that midsummer event sounded soooo like you baby! and yes it is good to see you on here.
sim - don't worry i think you're slight indulgences do not beat the rate at which i ate that chocolate hazelnut bar. best just not to buy such things really...
gosh... i really need to drink some water... i don't think i've had any today!!
yes... that bread/sugar cravings are strong in bodies like ours. every gene crying out for more more more!! really got to cut it all out. my skin gets itchy just thinking about it.
payday tomorrow - woo hoo - what along month. will investigate the gym thing this week. a good thing being skint actually as it's meant no "bad for you" ready meals from the supermarket. must keep it up.
jxx
Hello girlies... Housework most certainly counts Cookie - 2 hrs of housework is equivalent to burning up about 400 calories..
Bread & Sugar bad... SR and I discussed this yesterday and decided that SOOO many things have sugar in them and many as a main ingredient eg. Sweet Chilli Sce
Well done to the Cookster on her walk in the rain..
Hi everyone,
Just had a long weekend!
LOL.
Have fun today!
J

mmm and monty
Food has been ordinary - but not too bad. will get back on track now.
good luck to the dish
Good luck to you all
well its not going well... was taking tablets for my thyroid (in case there was something wrong with it). two weeks ago while doing training my world went spotty and i had to call an early lunch. it seemed it was some kind of overdose - so maybe the thyroid is happy. i stopped the tablets immediately (after two months) and in the last week my weight has gone up 3 kilos. really... grrr.
hi all - quick update from me.
yes - have been sick all week again.
flu.
infected ear drum with water and green pus coming oot of it.
yum yum.
remember that girls when you go to the fridge to eat some gooey dessert!
sarah sick as well at start of week.
had some good days and some bad days.
had a few carb / bread free days and i lost two kgs. had two carb filled days and put on 2.5kg. how does that happen in the space of four days.
my only other point of interest is that i went to eat a "good for you" supermarket nan bread with some veggie curry the other night and it was worth almost 1400kjs.. that's ridiculous and just not right!
delicious as it was i may write to the supermarket to complain. what's "good for you" about that? almost a whole days calories?
j xx
sim - what's with the meds over load - you poor seeing stars poppet... be careful baby! don't want you collapsing on the stair master!
stair master good luck. put on weight again this week. really.... its just not very funny. the woman that sits next to me at work (who lost 12 kilos in 10 weeks) has been away 5 weeks (she is back today) my parting words to her were...' see you when i am 5 kilos lighter'.. very disappointing beinmg just the same.
I guess if Sarah picks up nasty bugs from day care she brings them home and everybody gets them... hope you are feeling better soon
Wonder how the Dish is doing on her FebFast????
Thanks for the autopsy info... now I don't feel like breakfast!!!
Sounds awful...
Had a good day yesterday - need to have many more of those.... good eating & 2 hrs exercise....
Me - found the kilo I lost last week. ARGH!!
xxx
funny people. just dont know where to start. a calorie = 4.2 kilojoules.
Morning~
Simone in answer to your question - Five days and counting! Very annoyed no weight loss yet. There has to be some benefit besides giving my liver a rest. I bought some ginger grape juice on the weekend, lets see what that is like.
Still no physical activity. I did run from a meeting to get my car out of the car park before 9pm. Talk about jiggly bits.
Better get back to work. ho hum.
Justine - keep nodding and smiling - sounds like you have found the bonus of ringing ears.
Always look on the bright side of life (whistle whistle).
xxxx
Hello chickens..
Nice to hear from all... it is definitely OK to skip dinner instead of exercising SR... hope that worked out well for you!
Well done to you Dish on your FebFast thus far..
Cookie crumpet - where is your notepad to carry with you for writing down food?? Get a new one!
At work the other day for a morning tea Farewelling the boss (Andrew).. I have popped in to work on special occasions 3-4 times over the months. Planning to begin back May 1st. Which will make the lovely visit from SR & Dish extra special at end of April... celebration before going back.
Gym was way too busy last night.. had to fight for machines
Apparently my legs & bum are shrinking but not my tummy (according to my husband)...
Morning!
By sober self. ho hum.
Be happy! LOL
LOL... karen is always trying to drag you in miss jane. and cookie... where is cookie...
Where is that Cookie cracker?
interesting dinner K. i see - party food. not many vitamins amongst it - party pie does not make for good ever ready energy. no fruit either - i thought fruit was your friend? yes no fruit for me either... must eat the half cantelope today. lots of cs in that.
yes lots of the same food yesterday. donna hay's latest magazine has 100 fast reciples... one was steamed chicken layered with ginger, garlic, lemon splashed with soy. it was excellent and as seen on the food page i made enough for all day eating. good on donna.
hello my hungry little ones,
have been spending all my free time in bed with a trashy crime novel... convalescing from the flu.
good thing i found my little notebook which am now keeping in my handbag for food diary. have had some reasonable days... could be better but at least i am kicking my bread addiction! need to up the fruit and veg quota but i think i'll handle this when i'm feeling a bit better.
mmmmm... ginger grape juice... boy that sounds like a swell tipple jane! if you smoked a joint with it you could almost imagine that it was champagne!! (lol... maybe that's not a very healthy suggestion). good on miss K for the veg intake at simon's birthday. is hard to not nibble constantly on bad things at such events! nice to hear simone you are back on the wagon!
re. exercise and dad... it is something when you hear someone decide to do something then the just er... do it. is that singlemindedness? willpower? maybe we are just too spoilt for choice these days and are able to flip-flop on the decisions we make in our lives. you know - like the many times we have decided on a restaurant and then had to leave because we've changed our minds.
maybe we (ie. me) needs to make up our minds to choose a programme and stick to it!
anyway enough crapping on from me. can i come for your birthday karen?? pleeease? i'd love a trip home for a bit. a couple of weeks in the warm weather would be fab.
don't know about the swimsuit parade i'd have to pick up the exercise and start working on reduction of cellulite... my ass looks like i've swallowed a bag of marbles (or two).
is simon going to judge the swimsuit competition?
lol...lol...lol...
he would just love that!
very interesting words cookie.. spoiled for choice. my single mindedness keeps changing. my pysch supervisor suggested i was a bit like her a while ago - like a magpie constantly turning my head at shiny things. "oooh what about that" mmm chocolate.
yes. i think it is called:
"multiple mindedness"
ooh are we unable to be responsible for our choices good or bad? cannot bear the crushing weight of the consequences of our choices?
Lol... I am picturing a magpie going in to a restaurant and then being dazzled by the lights from the restaurant across the road.. lol
You 2 are funny!!! Magpies with their beady little eyes and head darting from one side to the other...
We are definitely spoilt re choices... Too many brands in the supermarkets to choose from, too many restaurants, too many coffee combinations.. too many delicious sweet dishes... too many excuses to eat too much!
I think I might get off to the gym now
Good on you Cookie for finding your notebook and writing down your food intake. Now I feel like porridge!
Morning everyone!
Chat soon.....J
PS. Justine - Wouldn't it be ace if we were rich and you could pop over for K's birthday. Oh well. We will just talk about you instead. :-)
I eat quite well? Apparently I didn't speak quite well.
Cookie - who drinks martini's?.. were you out and about?
sounds like she suddenly became part of the SATC cast!
Karen - it is the Board for Victorian Women's Housing Assoc. I did pro bono work for them last year - Penny and I did their marketing plan. So, it is a voluntary (unpaid) position.
Mmmmmm martinis.
hello ladies... yes over the flu... still missing about 15% of my hearing but they say it will return!
yes - made it out last saturday night - just a meal out with kevin and had a wee cocktail before heading home. in bed and sleeping before midnight.. how things change! (yes - that explains that ultra long post on sunday night waffling on and on!!! i don't drink anymore and now - when i do - i get quite giddy!).
looks like ive lost this week - hooray! i hardly ate any bread which is def making a difference to me. (hence all the bloody rice cakes. getting used to them really). also there were flu days where i really didn't eat much.
have not been using my food diary the last few days - am always rushed on my working days and kinda just forgot! good on K and S for your weight loss this week... every little bit counts!
jane - your board position sounds quite impressive! very interesting too... hope it went well. how is febfast going??
my question is how much does a 'drinking pass' cost miss J?
good on you cookie for being back!
Chat soon. and take care!
xxxx
what is with cookie and her pikelet explosion... that is funny... sooo many pikelets.. although i cant talk - icecream and bread for dinner last night.
very tired at the moment. had blood tests two days in a row week. again they had to go digging for my reluctant slow blood. i also had an ECG and a heart rate monitor attached to me for 24 hours. the least amount of fun with that is that i couldnt shower and still had to exercise. i am back for results of tests next friday. doctor thinks it is adrenal fatigue. symptoms are 'inability to lose weight, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, light headedness, blurred vision, heart pulpitations' all of which i have. the diet for such a condition says no coffee (amongst others choc, sugar, white flour etv).... i think i will wait for disease confirmation before giving up my morning cup!
other symptoms include an inability to concentrate and confusion.... as shown by the dyslexia of the previous post!
I told them at work i was putting my picture on the snack machine - do not sell to this person. a kind of self-exclusion program. maybe we need to post your pic on buffets. lol.. on the plus side it looks as though you hardly ate anything the rest of the weekend.. worrying about the peanut probably.
i have taken it very easy this weekend and done short amounts of exercise and eaten less. feeling less tired. have even turned off the tele in lieu of reading. hard to eat and move your eyes at the same time.
how are the other two cookies going?
Morning everyone!
I'm hungry now - reading about all the yummy things people are eating or trying not to eat! LOL.
Karen - sorry to hear Mackenzie has not been well...good that she is building her immune system. And helping Simon build his.
Simone - so many tests and symptoms. Take care of yourself! And let us know of the results.
I spent my weekend doing housework and errands - reached my 10,000 steps for the first time this week. Put back on a kilo! What's up with that!??
Oh well - ce la vie!
Chat soon. Enjoy your week!
xxx
Morning gorgeous women!
Ah what a lovely day in Melbourne! It is cool and rainy. So much for MSO in the park tonight.
Silly people and their cake! I had a workshop yesterday and was tempted by the scones.
I did my fourth class of yoga last night - I really love how it makes me feel - afterwards. During I just want to throw up.
And I will leave you with this image. :-)
Enjoy your day/evening/night.
xxxx
J
Good on you Dish for going to the yoga - I know what you mean by feeling sick during. That is how I feel during the body balance class with some of the tough stuff... but afterwards... Ahhhhh... lovely and stretched and relaxed!!
Last night after dinner I wanted something sweet (as per normal) and really liked the look of the mini magnum ice creams that chalky had bought.. checked the points on them and found that they were worth 4, so skipped it and decided a ww ice cream was a much better choice. I was pleased with that decision and satisfied enough with my low fat choc ice cream.
well done K! and J!
I am beind in my weight loss goal so the plan is to do yoga, swimming and walking this weekend! Wish me luck. LOL.
Enjoy your weekend!
xxx
Good luck Dish - famous girl!!
Where the hell is the Cookie?
Is she asleep?
Is Mackenzie asleep too? Hence your computerside time?
:-)
well the results of some tests sent me off for more tests. doc beliefs i have some sort of infection. so i had more blood tests of the weekend, poo collection tomorrow, ultrasounds of my tummy and uterous later in the week and prickng my finger when i muster the strength to collect blood for a food allergies test. now we all know that i must be allergic to bread and icecream because i eat so much of it... but when a test says so...mmm.. in the mean time i am to give my liver a bit of a break. i was given some fibre formula and working towards cutting out unhelpful stuff. first to go was coffee yesterday. i cant believe what power one cup has - i had a headache all after noon. a few days off the coffee.. and then sugar.. ahhah honey honey
cant be pleased about a 1.5 weight gain. oh well.. gave a coffe on weekend.. now sugar this week. should be better next week.
sugar... da da da da da da da.. aha..honey honey... da da da da da da da
